How it works

Three steps, all of them on your own device. Nothing to install, no account, no upload, and no monthly cap.

  1. 01

    Pick a photo

It stays on your device. Nothing is uploaded to a server.

    → Never leaves your browser

  2. 02

    Choose a colour and strength

Preset tints or a custom colour, with a strength slider.

    → Live preview, re-adjust freely

  3. 03

    Download the PNG

Images up to 4000 px come back at their original size. No watermark, no account, no monthly cap.

→ Up to 4000 px, no cap

Who keeps coming back

Four ways a colour wash earns its keep — mood, brand, nostalgia, cohesion.

Duotone and colour washes

Give a photo a single-colour mood for a poster or slide.

Brand colour overlays

Push an image toward your brand colour before dropping it into a deck.

Sepia and vintage looks

Warm amber tint for an aged photo feel.

Blue hour and cool tones

Cool a daylight shot toward evening.

A tint is the fastest way to make a mixed set of photos look like they belong together.

This vs Photoshop vs a phone filter

Tinting a photo is a two-minute job in almost any editor. What differs is how much you have to install, how much control you get, and whether the file leaves your device — including the cases where you should not use us.

Approach Best for What it costs you
This tinter Fastestthis page A quick duotone, a brand-colour wash, or making a mixed set of photos look like one set. Drop the file in, drag one slider, save. Runs on your own device — unlimited, no account, and the photo is never uploaded.
PhotoshopGradient map Precise duotones with a custom curve, per-channel control, and the result saved as a reusable preset. A subscription and a real learning curve. Worth it if you tint photos every week; overkill for one poster.
Phone filtersInstagram, VSCO A look you pick from a grid, applied and posted in seconds without thinking about colour values. You get their palette, not your brand’s hex. Most also re-compress the image on export.
CanvaPhoto effects Tinting inside a layout you are already designing, with the tint applied to a frame rather than a file. Fine for that workflow. Getting a plain tinted file back out is more steps than it should be.

Which photos take a tint well?

A colour wash works with the tones already in the photo, it does not replace them. What you start with decides whether the result reads as a look or as a mistake.

Type 01

Flat, evenly lit shots

Overcast portraits, product shots on a sweep, scanned documents. There is no strong colour already fighting you, so the tint lands cleanly across the whole frame.

Works? Best case. Any colour and strength holds up.

Type 02

High-contrast black and white

A monochrome image is the classic duotone base: the tint maps straight onto the existing tonal range without competing with any hue.

Works? Yes — this is what duotone was invented for.

Type 03

Photos with one dominant colour

A red jacket, a blue sky filling half the frame. The tint has to fight an existing hue, and at high strength that subject turns muddy before the rest of the image shifts.

Works? Keep the strength low, or the dominant colour goes grey.

Type 04

Images with transparency

A cut-out PNG with an alpha channel. The tint is painted across the whole canvas, so fully transparent areas come back carrying a light wash of the colour.

Works? Flatten onto a background first if the transparency matters.

Why you can trust this

Four claims. Every one of them you can check yourself, right now.

01 — Offline proof

Two tools never upload anything

Tint and Red-eye run entirely inside your browser. Switch off your wi-fi, reload the page and use them again — they still work. Nothing ever reaches a server, so there is nothing for us to keep.

02 — Deleted on completion

AI tools discard the file immediately

Shadow, glare and passport need a server to run. The image is processed in memory and dropped the moment the result comes back. Not written to disk, not used for training, not shared.

03 — Why some are free

Browser tools cost us nothing, so they are unlimited

The AI tools cost real money per image, which is why the free plan is only 2 a month. We would rather tell you the actual reason than pretend the limit is a feature.

04 — No quiet downgrades

Free output is the full output

No watermark, no account, no locked download button at the end. This tool runs on your own device, so there is no quota to run out of and nothing to upgrade to — images up to 4000 px come back at their original size.

Questions

Everything people ask before they upload the first file.

Q.01 Is the photo uploaded anywhere?
No. Tinting happens in your browser with the Canvas API. The file never leaves your device.
Q.02 Is there a limit?
No. It costs us nothing to run, so it is unlimited and free forever.
Q.03 What is the difference between tint and filter?
A tint blends one colour across the whole image. A filter usually changes contrast, curves and saturation as well.
Q.04 Can I tint a transparent PNG?
Mostly. The tint is painted across the whole canvas, so fully transparent areas come back with a light wash of the colour. Flatten onto a background first if that matters.
